More often now then ever before, I am seeing the constant "need" to have GREAT friends around you..why is that...?
Is it separation anxiety...?
Is it loneliness....?
Is it pressure from the social media life that most of us live in...?
My Opinion..
Being a friend in this day and age is actually more harder than ever before....
In the 90's and early 2000's, we had very little to 'distract' ourselves with, as most were too busy with work (being paid $6-$9 per hour), no snapchats, insta, fb, ....maaaayyybbbee we had ICQ and MIRC to turn to, but still.....the quality of your friendship BACK THEN!!! was soooooo gooood, so different to how it is now!
i.e. my circle of friends were mostly not driving, you would catch a bus to see your friends, or get your parents to drop you off, at that time, you would even catch multiple buses, trains, to see your girl/boyfriend!!!! - nowadays, you can literally not see your partner, friend or family and "Be Ok" with this?????? I don't think so...
Social Media's influence can be GOOD or can be very (VERY) BAD!
Firstly (my opinion only), I truly believe that whilst we have all these social media tools to apparently connect us together, it's actually making us more DISTANT from each other.
Here's a test....
Pick up your mobile phone...
Look at your recent call list (both incoming and outgoing) over the past week, heck maybe even month..
(Taking out of the consideration - your spouse, your family and purely concentrating on the list of your "friends").
Okay...
As you scroll through your list...
How many people (sorry "Friends") did you count that you either reached out to, or called you?.....
I'm just gonna leave this here.....
